Looking up an individual record

I need to create a report where a user can enter a code into a search box and pull up information on that individual record. I know there are slicers with search boxes that can achieve this on smaller datasets, the problem is that I'm dealing with more than a billion rows. Is there someway to do this in DirectQuery? Do I need all my users to download the desktop version and enter a query parameter for each search (this would be a huge pain)?

Hi @alexpoulton,

You still can use the search box of a slicer in the Direct Query mode. But the problem is the size of your dataset. It's too big. If it's possible for you to aggregate the billion rows to 1 million rows. Please refer to desktop-use-directquery#limitations-of-directquery.

>>>There is a 1 million row limit for returning data when using DirectQuery. This does not affect aggregations or calculations used to create the dataset returned using DirectQuery, only the rows returned.

Best Regards,

Dale
