Hi guys,
I made a report which is connected to xlsx files in a sharepoint folder. Every day the xslx files get overwritten (replaced), after which a refresh is done. However, the refresh takes about 1.5 hours, whilst refreshing the same data in pbi desktop takes only 30 seconds.
Do you have a solution for this or know the reason behind this behavior?

Hi @Anonymous
It's cozed by the different workflow of refresh in desktop and service. When you select Refresh in desktop, you refresh the file’s model with updated data from the original data source. This kind of refresh happens entirely from within the Power BI Desktop application itself. It's different from a manual or scheduled refresh in Power BI, and it’s important to understand the distinction.
When you refresh the dataset in service, Power BI doesn't connect to the file on OneDrive or SharePoint Online to query for updated data. It uses information in the dataset to connect directly to the data sources and query for updated data. Then, it loads that data into the dataset.

Alright, thank you for the explanation!
