Having an issue where i need to link two tables, but when I do this I lose data. I.e. rows with important information that was present in one table but there's no corresponding data for it in the second table. Is there a way to make is just populate the empty space with "null" instead of deleting it completely?

If the "link" you mentioned means drag columns from different tables, the rows will be filtered(the rows contain the common primary key), and there's no way to generate NULL values in rows.
If the "link" you mentioned is merge two tables in query editor, there will be NULL value in the merged table.
