Link to Excel file on a local server

Hello powerBi comunity,

 

I would like to have some sort or button or text  link that will open an excel file that is located on a local server.

 

This might be easy to use but i can't figure it out.

It's a good idea but not supported currently as far as i know.

Hi Greg,

I only have the regular path that looks somethig like I:\Dept\PSER\Restricted\Proyect\Cost. Like i mentioned it is an internal server. Can it be done ? if so, how do I link this file to the button.

Usually we would do as below, but 'Web URL' is the only option. you cannot point to any excel as a regular path.

try uploading the excel to a sharepoint and then you would get a web URL to share the file and the below steps will work.

Go to Insert --> Buttons --> Blank
