Hi,
I have a line graph and when I make the axis 'date'
it presents the data in ascending date order
If however I use the Date Hierarchy on the same date table
the order is reversed and there is no option to reverse the order
Any idea how can I get the hierarchy view into the proper order ?
Check your date/time column to see if it is in sort descending status. If it is, go to your chart that using data hierarchy and see if you have selected sort by date/time option.
Thanks Jessica,
Perhaps I should have said; the data source is SSAS Tabular so in Power-bi I dont the option to sort the data.
I tried sorting it both ways in SSAS and it made no difference.
On the graph - the only option is to 'Sort by Year/Quarter' Z-to-A.
Just like in your example. How would you alter your example to go from Jan to December ?

Hi jc508,
What's the data type of the date column in SSAS? If they are text, please convert to date and try again.
Regards,
Jimmy Tao
Jimmy,
The data type of the 'Date' column is Date.
On the other hand the the Hierarchy is made up of
- Year Decimal Number / whole number eg 2017
- Quarter Text eg 'Q1', 'Q2'
- Month Text eg '01-Jan'
And the quarters and Months were just fabricated like that to get some sense on the output otherwise it just said, say, '2' for quarter and '2' for month.
I just tried changing the format of Year to be 'Date' - total mess as you might predict.
There doesn't seem any way to turn on the Power-bi inbuilt date stuff when it coemes from SSAS - do you know of any ?
Thanks
JC
