Line and Clustered Column chart help

Hello,

I am currently trying to create a visual where I have a line and clustered chart where the line shows sales over time. I would like specific dates to be markers of events that have happend. The line portion of my chart is correct. When I try to place the date colunm in the colunm values the total amount of dates is applied to every column. The sales and events are in 2 tables each linked to a central date table.
