Line Graph to Show Rolling Ons and Roll offs

Hi

I'm trying to visual data for a project focusing on apprenticeship assessments. The data we have has the start dates of the assessment perods and we know the assessment period is up to 56 days.

I'm struggling to turn this into a line graph to explain when we will experience peaks and troughs as apprentices roll on and off the program given that the assessment is 56 days and not just a single point in time.

I started off using GANNT but I have too many assessment to make that an effecient way to count the volume of assessments we could have.

TIA

Re: Line Graph to Show Rolling Ons and Roll offs

Lin,

The simplified data I'm working with looks like this below .  Each apprentice has an ID number, a program start date, end date and the course they're loaded onto.

data.PNG

If I try turn it into a line graph (below) I get just the point in time the start the course, what i'm trying to achieve is a way of representing the count of apprentices on program at any one point given their start and end dates.

Current.PNG

Line graph might not be the right format to do this, I'm open to ideas to represent the values.

quicly modelling it in excel might explain what i'm trying to achieve Looking at row 2, I would expect this to count as 1 apprentice on program between 02/05/19, until row 3 joins on the 22/05/19, then show 5 when row 4 and 5 join on the 25th.

Does this help or should I try represent it more with the lines or  of data shown below?
