Keeping my data set static

Hello,

Is there anyway to keep my dataset static after I import from a live database - one that is constantly changing everyday? I created a file to learn PowerBI however, I keep getting prompted to "Apply query changes", which I believe also updates my dataset. If I want to prevent that from happening, how do I do that, but at the same time be able to make changes to my query (adding columns and such)?

Thank you

Vivian

If you imported data, you can go into Query Editor and right click your queries and disable data load/refresh.

Hi all,

I have a similar problem.  I've imported an excel file as a datasource (1 of 4, the other 3 sources are SQL), and have unchecked include in refresh in powerquery.  When I upload the data to powerbi service, it still will not allow refresh schedule.  Is there a setting I can select to import an excel file and not worry about the data updating so that the server settings will permit a full report refresh (to update other sources)

Hi Greg,

Once I disbale the load, I get a pop up warning that I will lose data and if I click continue, my dashboard/reports are just broken. Do you know how to prevent this from happening?

Thank you,

Maya

Don't tick off "enable load". (You have been warned that this will break your report.) Yust tick off "include in report refresh" in the query context menue.
