KPI visualisation and negative numbers: whats the standard practise?

Hi,

New to PowerBi and Visualisations and was wondering what the norm is.

I have a measure Amount and I'm filtering it to Outgoing transactions only, so its only negative figures.

The trend line feels odd as it dips the more negative it gets.

So a big outflow will show as a big dip, but somehow as a KPI I would want to see a spike?

Should I just show absolute figures?

But then it might confusing when the headline figure is a positive when I am showing outgoings.

Any feedback is welcome.

Cheers

Hi jlj,

Could you provide more details about your issue and share some snapshots and sample data for further analysis?

I think the dip with the negative numbers might be sending a confusing image without context.

But on the other hand, will flipping the numbers confuse the user?
