KPI Displaying incorrect Indicator

IM really confusd about the KPI

I create a Gague Sales Amount in Value. Target is 70 Million.

This comes up fine showing Sales Amount as 83 Million (everything)

I then create a KPI

Sales Amount in Indicator

Trend contains Month Date of Sale (Dragged infrom the date hierarchy)

Target goals contains the 70 Million

However the KPI only shows 7 Million. Ive no idea where its getting that number from. Its not even a figure in any of the years worth of data.

Can anyone advise on this? Thanks in advance

I suggest that you create a table visual beside your KPI, then drag all the attributes that you have in the KPI visual into the table visual. Then you should be able to see what is happening. The KPI visual can be set up in many different ways, sortet, etc.

Hope this helps.

Hi @DebbieE,

If it is convenient, could you share a dummy pbix file which can reproduce the scenario, so that we can help further investigate on it? You can upload it to OneDrive or Dropbox and post the link here. Do mask sensitive data before uploading.)

Perfect, the 7.0 Mill is a grouping of the Month of December because I have dragged month from Hierarchy.

So at least I understand the indicator

So the question is now, what Trend Axis do I use to get this working so I see the full total? Ig I use Year from the date hierarchy the indicator just says Blank. This is confusing as I would expect this to work in the same way as Month, All the years are aggregated and I get what I want for the KPI

If I drag in the actual date, again it just says blank.

If I try dragging in Calendar year , again it just says Blank

However, If I take the target out I can at least see the indicator. If I drag in YEar I can see the value for the last year rather than everything

As soon as I add a target in it just goes to blank. I So my question is why is the target changing the indicator to blank?

Is it possible that it is the total sale for the last month in the KPI? If you have month as the trend then your target must be sales per month, just a thought?

I thought trend was just for the chart behind the actual indicator.

The last months comes to 3.4 M so this doesnt work

I tried changing the trend to Year but then I get nothing for my indicator which is increcibly confusing
