Issue with Power BI and Proxy Server

Hi all,

We are trying to implement Power BI to a certain amount of users in our company.

Unfortunately, when trying to add the office account to Power BI, it seems not to communicate with MS servers for authentication.

I did add the specific URL's and domains to the local Proxy server.

In addition to that, I also added the registry key to manually "force" Power BI to use the system provided proxy server (UseDefaultCredentialsForProxy), but that didn't work as well.

Looking forward to any help regarding my topic.

App version is 2.88.1385.0 32-bit (December 2020)

Hi @PrecimaKrenz ,

If your network uses a proxy authentication server, your administrator can fix this issue by adding the following domains to the allow list on the proxy authentication server:

  • app.powerbi.com
  • api.powerbi.com
  • domains in the *.analysis.windows.net namespace

For customers who are part of a government cloud, fixing this issue can be done by adding the following domains to the allow list on the proxy authentication server:

  • app.powerbigov.us
  • api.powerbigov.us
  • domains in the *.analysis.usgovcloudapi.net namespace

Refer https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-troubleshooting-sign-in#proxy-authent...

Best Regards,

Jay

Hi @v-jayw-msft,

We already added the domains to get allowed through Proxy. Unfortunately, this didn't make any improvements.

Is it maybe possible to get assistance from MS directly?

Best regards,
Marvin

I just tested with your mentioned trusted sites. It didn't make it any better.

The error message is in german, so translated, it's:

"Login unavailable.

In your network, proxy authentication is necessary. Contact your network administrator to check your authentication and firewall settings."

Currently, we only have internal sites as trusted. I will add yours to test further.
Will let you know shortly.

Best regards,

Marvin
