Issue opening reports since the 10/31 Power BI Desktop update

Hi,

Since the update that was released on 10/31 and communicated on 11/3, I am having issues where I cannot open a number of previously working reports.

Upon opening, I get an "Unexpected Erorr" with content that reads: "Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'A circular dependency was detected: [goes on to list 3 or 4 variables depending on the report I try to open]'.

I have dealt with circular dependencies before while building reports which I have always been able to fix on the spot, but these reports have been working up until now and there have not been any changes made for over a month.  It also will not even let me open the report to try to address the circular dependency it is reporting.

I will submit this issue directly to the support team, but I wanted to reach out here as well to see if anyone else has had this issue and been able to resolve it.

Hi @ruecj5,

Based on my research, Power BI Desktop version 2.40.4554.463 64-bit (October 2016) has fixed the issue: Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'A circular dependency was detected.

Please download this desktop version from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45331. Check if the issue persists.

Quick update: There is a Bug reported here that appears to stem from the same issue I (any many others) am having here.

Not expecting an answer to my question above as it seems to be a program issue, but please do share if you have found any workarounds!
