Issue connecting to Salesforce Reports/Objects - Error "Access to the resource is forbidden"

Hi,

I have not been able to connect Power BI Desktop to Salesforce Reports or Salesforce Objects using the credentials provided by my company. I have successfully logged into Salesforce (within PowerBI). However, whenever I tried to connect, I'd get the below error message:

"Unable to connect We encountered an error while trying to connect. Details: 'Access to the resource is forbidden.' "

Would you know what's the issue? Thanks

Hi Dong,

Turns out it's my access level. I had to ask our Salesforce Admin to enable API Access for me.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Cheers,

Hi, were you able to find a solution? I've used the Salesforce connector but I had some issues with my connection too. As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Could you please check if your license to Salesforce reach the quota limit? Please refer to the similar thread: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Can-t-connect-to-Salesforce-Objects/td-p/809152
