Hi,
I've built out quite a dashboard with some very complicated formulae.
Whenever I refresh the dashboard based on my dataset the refresh can take anywhere up to an hour and the dataset isn't particularly large, a blank dashboard refreshes the connection quite quickly.
I know I have to start adding efficiencies to the formulae to improve refresh speed and functionality but with a ton of calculated columns and measures I have no clue where to start and also what approach to take to improve efficiencies.
Based on this, is there some way that I can find out how long specific formulae take to completely calculate upon refreshing the data?
My goal from this would be to hone in on the few really heavy formulae and focus on making them more efficient first.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
To help in evaluating your dax measures and troubleshooting the performance of your reports you can use DAX Studio. This will allow you to capture queries and server timings for your measures and also your report interactions.
However if you mean the refresh operations that are executed during refresh of the dataset, then I'm not sure there is any good options available at the moment (at least not that I'm aware of).
Br,
Magnus
Hi Magnus,
Thanks for your reply. I've used DAX Studio a few times and can see that you get a time to complete query timestamp but not sure if this will help me.
Ideally I would just like to see how long each calculated column or measure takes to calculate based on the dataset, it doesnt necessarily have to be on refresh. Is this possible through Dax Studio do ou know?
Thanks
