Is there a way to pull certain measures from different reports?

I am trying to see if there is a possibility of pulling measure values from a different report to another report.

I have a salesforce data model feeding report A and SQL data model feeding report B. These are pretty large reports in themselves with 10+ tables and a lot of calculation measures. I do not want to create a new data set for a KPI calculation that would require two measures from each report. 

Report A has total cases by months and Report B has total lines shipped in a month. I want a simple Cases as a % of total lines shipped. 

Please let me know if this is possible without recreating a new dataset.

Yes, if you need to calculate through two data sets of reports, you need to connect to these two data sources. so the generated report is equivalent to using a new data set.

The quickest thing I can think of is that using union and summarize create a table and store the results of these reports. Is that creation of a new dataset?
