Is there a way to load data conditionally?

Hello Power BI Gurus,

What I would like to know is if there is a way to import data into, let's say staging tables, and then based upon some condition load that data into the "true" tables our report is based on.  The reason for this inquiry is that we need to refresh most of our reports/datasets on a monthly basis.  Microsoft has seen fit to not provide us that option.  I'm therefore wondering if it is possible to set the refresh to happen daily, and if the date meets a certain condition, then load that data into the "true" tables our report is based on.

If this is possible, or if someone has a better way to accomplish a monthly refresh, I would appreciate hearing.

you should look into aquiring a third party power bi scheduler tool 

you can check out this version from ChristianSteven

they currenlty have a 30 day free trial

Hi @Kirt1965 ,

Currently power bi service could not support refresh report monthly. If you want to refresh report each month, one temporary way is that you need to refresh the report manually in power bi desktop each month and republish it to power bi service.

Also, you can vote the monthly refresh idea as @simrantuli  mentioned to help us improve power bi and make this feature coming sooner.

Power BI Service report refreshing setting has 'Weekly' refresh option and you can select certain week days. Just select only one day of week:



I don't think refreshing data 4 times per month instead of once will cause you any issues.

I believe you have the option to refresh the report on a monthly basis on Power BI Service itself.

Our only option is Daily or Weekly.
