Is there a way to actually edit the table that you see when you click on show data

Is there a way to actually edit the table that you see when you click on "show data" (the table you see when you click on show data on any visualization)? 

There doesn't seem to be any way to control how the data is formatted there. It  just seems to take the appropriate values and sticks them in an abitrary table. I would like to be able to control font, font size, column widths etc, also I'd like the option to choose if it will show column or row totals.

I'm not aware of the ability for formatting of the "show data" option.  IMHO, it's really there for a quick glance at underlying data that forms the visualization, but not intended to be "pretty".

I would suggest either having a visualization with tables, for which you can then format the data to your liking and publish that, or direct users to export the data, and then render the formatting in Excel.
