Is there a quick way to repoint Power BI report to use Direct Query?

Built an AAS model to repace sources for different team, but there was significant building of visuals based off of on-prem sources and a combination of other sources. What would be the fastest way to repoint the Power BI report to use Direct Query with the AAS model? 

When tried using Get Data and trying to fix visuals, got a "Table is able to filter a remote Power BI data source or Analsys Services data source by reaching more than one table within the island, which is not supported:" error.

I do not have AAS environment to use the new DQ feature , but I have tested with SQL server. You can create parameters to select between SQL server instance as well as databases.

can you explain a bit more about the model you currently have.   What is it currently linked too, is this a mash up of imported data?

unfortunately going from an imported model  ---> direct query (or live connection in ssas) mode requires rebuilding completely.

Best thing to do is bring your new table in and remap the calcs you have in your model then delete the old one out.  Thats the easiest Way i have found.

Currently, it has tables from two different AAS models, and it seems like one Imported table (thought I deleted all of them, but corner still says Mixed Mode so one must still be present). I was hoping switching to have all visuals use the models would be a simple repoint, but it is sounding like a complete rebuild is our only route. 

Would you know if the new Direct Query feature allows one to filter between two different AAS models?

hmmm good question, I dont know since ive never tried to.  But i would think if you are joining tables in the relationship view  it should be possible.
