When i want to Validate The Roles i have defined the powerbi Desktop lets me Choose either of them.
Once Choosen the Desktop shows me "Viewing As" and the the role applied.
That's why i suspect there is a function in the PowerBI Desktop which could give me the "Applied Role".
is It available to desktop users ?
If not Why not ?
If Yes what is the ( i guess function) Name.
It could be a solution to many questions raised in this forum.
To my knowledge there is no fuction to return the active role. What you could do, is create a table with all possible RLS roles and simply have the RLS filter that table aswell. This should allow you to display the role that is currently active for the user.

Thank you very well Tex628,
This would definitely do the job and i will surely use it like that.
Having Said that.. it does double up the work you need to do to find out compared to just having a (dax) function.
So i still wonder why MS would not give away that function. Can an ms official answer this?
solution accepted( though a bit grumpy).
