Is it possible to use the PowerBI datamodel as an input to the R-script?

So far all the examples I've come across read a csv file to further process using a R-script as the "input data". Is there a function to read tables alsready existing in PowerBI datamodel? I know the other way is possible-writing a table from the R-script to a table on PowerBI
