Is it possible to combine a dataset with another?

Hello,

I have a published dataset (Dataset1) on Power BI service.

Is it possible to pull this Dataset1 into desktop and combine it with another data source (i.e. Excel), creating a new dataset (Dataset2)?

Or is this only possible if I add the new data source (i.e. Excel) in the original published dataset (Dataset1)?

Hi @sem1 ,

If you are creating the PBI file from a Power BI dataset this will act as a Direct query so you won't be abble to add any other data source directly in the PBI file.

You have two options:

  1. Add the second datasource on the original source (as you refer)
  2. Create two dataflows and use them to create your PBI with both dataflows (this will allow to have the two separated data to be used)
