Inventory Forecast

Hi all,

I am willing to create a report to allow final users to make decision based on stock levels.

And I am pretty new to PBI 😉

Here is a short description of my situation.

MySQL database, PBI desktop & Service.

The business involves rental & sold devices along with sold consumables.

I have about 2000 references but will only nead to deal with the top 100, maybe 200.

I have date of entry and quantity for all of them.

I have quantity & date of sales, rental and return (in case of sold product).

3 Warehouses.

How would you advise to build the model (ETL) ?

Is there build-in tool within PBI to perform forecasts or will I have to do it the using DAX/M code (Which I will learn sooner or later, right !) ?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you all PBI mates.

Thomas

@Anonymous,

If you need to import all the rows and columns the meet specific conditions from MySQL to Power BI Desktop, you can input MySQL statement in the highlighted textbox to load limited data .

And there is an example about Forecasting feature for your reference.

I would start with Import mode to build out the POC and yes, there is built-in forecasting when using a Line Chart Visualization.

@ me in replies or I'll lose your thread!!!
