Intermediate table with more than one active connection - Schema

Hi all,

I am trying to build a Schema to compare two tables. It is probably more a Data Management question rather than Power BI specific, but probably you can help, as I need to implement it on Power BI

I have the schema below. Table 1 and Table 3 are two tables that I would like to link together. They are not linked by ID because they are fact tables of different things. Let's say that Table 1 is the mobile phones sold by company X and Table 3 is the mobile phones sold in the market. In order to calculate market shares for example, I need to connect them by other fields. One of them is country. I have a country table (Table 4) where I can connect the two (using country name as foreign keys and having a country table to connect the two). Similar to a date table but for countries. The issue is when I try to link them with a second connection at the same time. In this case Table 1 and 3 have the same field, but the naming convention is different. Thus, I am using a table to link them both using the two naming conventions as columns.

The issue is that one of the connections is inactive, so when I add the feature to a visualization combining Table 1 and 3, one of them does not get sliced down.

I found I workaround while I was writing this, but I do not think it's great, and it involved duplicating tables. It keeps the relationship active, but, because one of the naming convention has duplicates, the one having duplicates will show duplicates in the visualization. I am sure there is a better way than the below, Any ideas? Is it clear?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Not sure if i understand you correctly but if you want use inactive relationships, you may check USERELATIONSHIP() function.
