Installation of PBI Desktop on Windows Server 2012 R2

Hi guys,

I am having trouble with the installation of MS Power BI desktop on Windows Server 2012 R2.

Somehow when trying to run the "PBIDesktopSetup_x64.exe"-file (provided by https://www.microsoft.com/de-DE/download/details.aspx?id=58494) nothing really happens. No window pops up and no processes / task show up within task manager. I also tried the installation using administrative mode and also by using command line.

In the past I used the .msi-file - which worked without any problems - which was provided by Microsoft. Unfortunately, MS will only offer .exe-files since September 2019.

Does anyone have a solution?
