Initial default view for reports showing only certain years

Hi,

I have a Year column which has historical data from 1993 till current i.e. 2019, also used as a report level filter.

There are 2 reports each of which have a different requirement.

Report 1:

When the report opens, it should only show data for years from 2009 to 2018 with those values checked in the initial view.

Beginning with Jan 2020 when the data processing happens again (mostly first Friday of every month, Column: CORP_DT, Format: YYYYMM for identification of data processing), the report should show data for years 2010 to 2019 with those values checked.

Beginning with Jan 2021, report should show data for years 2011 to 2020 and so on.

Other Year values i.e. 1993 onwards till 2008 etc. should be available for selection as needed by the user.

Report 2:

When the report opens, it should only show data for 10 full years plus the current incomplete year.

Example - When reports opens currently, the report should show data for years 2009 to 2019 with those values checked in the initial view.

Beginning with Jan 2020, the report will show data for years 2010 to 2020 with those values checked in Year filter.

Beginning with Jan 2020 when the data processing happens again (mostly first Friday of every month, Column: CORP DT, Format: YYYYMM for identification of data processing), the report should show data for years 2010 to 2020 with those values checked.

Beginning with Jan 2021, report should show data for years 2011 to 2021 and so on.

Other Year values i.e. 1993 onwards till 2008 etc. should be available for selection as needed by the user.

I believe the default filter selection is currently not supported in Power BI. But since we have a pattern here to see data in both the reports, is it possible to implement this currently in Power BI?

Please let me know. Showcasing with formula and screenshots would be beneficial.

Thanks,

Vishy

Hi @vishy86  and @v-joesh-msft , I am looking to implement similar solution, do you have any update?

Hi @vishy86 ,

I am a bit confused about your description. You apply the Year column to the report level filter, then use the advanced filter to set the time range, save and close the report. The next time you open the report, the report will automatically display the data of the range you selected;

If you want the filter to automatically adjust the time based on the latest year, this is currently not possible, but you can manually adjust it once a year;
There is also a Persistent Filters feature that allows you to return to the author’s published version, by clicking on the “Reset to default” button.
