Incremental data load from Excel

If I'm not mistaken this is not yet available, with that...

- does it mean that I have to maintain all my historical files locally(or wherever they are currently located)?

- does that mean that if I do a data refresh in PowerBI Service it will go through record 1 to record N?

Also, I would want to ask... since Excel can only keep up to a million lines how do I extend it? Workbook1, Workbook 2, I know PBI can merge this

- do I have to maintain a naming convention so that upload is done chronologically?

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

There are a few approaches. Read my blog series starting here. http://exceleratorbi.com.au/combine-excel-workbooks-power-query-method-1/

I believe you can load a table and then disable refresh. I have never tried it but I assume you should be able to load a history file (say years 2014 -2016) and not refresh them  on reload - you would need to test it

Upload order is not important.

Thanks again @MattAllington, your recommendations are enough to flag this as solved! I'll take your word for it... but I will test and get back to this post what I have discovered.

Thanks for the link as well, I will read through it (learn from it).
