Incremental Refresh Question

Hi just want to confirm query folding only needs to happen before the steps that incremental refreshed is used, right?

For example, I am importing data from SQL and setting my parameters on a date directly from the source. I can see view the native query so I know query folding is working. I need to do transformations steps after which will break query folding. That would not mess up my incremental refresh right?

@PowerBI123456 although it would work but here is my advise, why not take all the transformation to the backend rather than doing it in power query.

for example, if you are using an SQL server, create views, have all the column names, data manipulation was done there rather than in PQ. It is the most scalable and best practice approach.

I will ask myself what transformation I'm doing in PQ which I can do in the backend.

Hi @PowerBI123456

Yep, all the transformation steps need to come after query folding.
