For excel, we had to make the Total section into its own pivot table where we collapsed the columns between the two to make them appear as one table. Is there a way in Power BI that we can achieve this same layout in one matrix? The Type(US/Interdivisional) is one column header and Debit/Credit is the other. We want a way for the grand totals to be broken out between debit and credit still but I have not seen any options that would enable me to do this.
@Anonymous how does your raw data looks like? And what is your expected output, please provide an example

Here is an example of my data. If you put this into a pivot with year as the row, ProdType and Debit/Credit as columns, and a count of PolicyNum and sum of Amount as values you will see in your grand totals you just have Total Count and Total Amount. I would like to be able to do something like the picture in my original post where I can still have the Debit/Credit differentiated in the Grand Totals.
Year | PolicyNum | ProdType | Debit/Credit | Amount |
2018 | 1 | US | Debit | 100 |
2018 | 2 | US | Credit | -10 |
2019 | 3 | Interdivisional | Debit | 200 |
2019 | 4 | Interdivisional | Debit | 10 |
2018 | 5 | US | Credit | -250 |
2019 | 6 | US | Debit | 300 |
2018 | 7 | US | Credit | -200 |
2017 | 8 | Interdivisional | Credit | -10 |
2019 | 9 | Interdivisional | Debit | 100 |
2019 | 10 | US | Debit | 150 |
Hi @Anonymous ,
Is this what you want?

No. I can get a matrix like that. What we are looking to do is also have the totals broken out by Debit and Credit as well. If you look my picture in the first post you will see an example. In excel we can do this by collapsing the columns between two pivot tables to make it LOOK like it is one pivot table. Ideally, we are looking for a work around to get it into one. I think I have an idea for columns, but we also have areas where we need to do this for rows.
