Importing a file from SharePoint Online one desktop pBI

I’ve noticed that we can’t easily seem to import data from an excel file stored in a SharePoint Online library in Power BI desktop?

If I use the PBI service it has options for SharePoint Online, OneDrive, personal/business etc but you don’t get these in the desktop version, I just have SharePoint Folder, SharePoint Online List data and Sharepoint List. Does this mean I can’t import data from say an excel file stored in SharePoint Online?

I’ve tried using the file, excel option then pasting in the SharePoint web but I just get an error saying windows cannot find xxxx

I'd like to suggest you use web connector to get data from sharepoint online file url. Please take a look at following link and use sharepoint online file link to instead onedrive business link:
