Import Power BI data model into CDS for use by PowerApps

I created a somewhat complex data model in Power BI, but now want to also start developing some apps in PowerApps using that same model. Is there a way to import that data model into CDS for use by PowerApps?

Thanks!

Hey,

not sure what you are meaning by "using the same model" in Power Apps.

There are a couple of ways to use the Power BI model,

  • embed Power BI report tiles into your PowerApp
    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-tile-in-powerapps/
There are a lot of videos outside that explain that in great detail
  • using the tables that form "the Power BI data model"
Basically this is not that easy as the Data model is an Analysis Servcie Tabular data model from a technical point ov view. This model is of course formed by related tables. These tables will be created by Power Query (at least quite often). Instead of using to Power Query you might consider using dataflows as dataflows are creating Entities inside the Common Data Model (CDM). Both Applications can leverage Entities inside the CDM. Maybe this will provide a good start: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-tile-in-powerapps/

Hopefully this provides some ideas.

Regards,

Tom
