Hello,
In order to produce a dashboard, we often connect to different servers using alternate credentials.
for example we enter our username and password. Then Power Bi desktop connect to the various servers and database, update the tables, thereafter refresh the dashboard.
The problem of connection raise when we need to update our password ( a task done on a regular basis).
Power BI is not able to update the dashboard because it request the new password use for the alternate credential.
I believe we have the same issue for a dashboard published on the web.
So my question is:
When we update our password, is it possible for the dashboard to do the same update without us having to manually enter the new password.

Hi alepage,
Based on my test, I find that if you have created the gateway for datasource, although you change credential in desktop, this won’t impact on credential in service’s gateway, this will cause error when you view report or dashboard. The dashboard is come from multiple dataset or report, so it will be affect by multiple datasets(if you change credential for dataset(dataset's gateway), you don’t need to pass credential to dashboard manually). So I think when you update the credential for datasource, you need to update credential in powerbi service(gateway), which will make your dataset connect and refresh data successfully

If I understand correctly, it will be updated automatically on the gateway but not with in Power BI desktop project (*.PBIX).
