How to sort a matrix when multiple columns exist without SSAS

I do have multiple columns on a matrix but I can sort only based on the total. How can I sort based on another column? See picture for details.

I found a workaroun but still quite complex to explain

  1. Duplicate the sales query
  2. Filter the current year
  3. Select distinct customer names and creating a new column summarizing sales
  4. Set the new column as the sorting column
  5. Create a relationship between the customer in the original table and the new table created
  6. Add in the row of the matrix the customer from the new table
  7. Sort based on customer name
