How to retain queried data?

Hi,

When I save the report as pbix file in Power BI Desktop, it always lose queried data.

If I open the saved file again, PBI says "There are pending changes in your queries that haven't been applied."

Then if save the file again, the same behaviour is reproduced.

Until desktop January version, I didn't experience this (now I'm using '18 August)

How can I solve this problem?

Hi, it seems that my company's DRM policy is the problem.

after amending the policy, now it works.

Thanks for your attention

Hi @flavourabbit,

As the pbix file is fine in desktop January version, is there any change you made to the pbix file or source Excel file after updating desktop?

The error "DataFormat.Error: File contains corrupted data." shows there is something wrong in source Excel file. Please go to Excel file check if any invalid data exist. Also you could use Excel connector in Power BI desktop to get data from the same table/sheet to see if it can retrieve data successfully.

The message "There are pending changes in your queries that haven't been applied." prompts there are some changes made in Query Editor are not applied to data model, you can click Apply button in Query Editor to apply these changes.

If the issue still exists, you can share pbix file and source Excel file with us.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu

Also, when I tried to edit queries, all the queries that refer to xlsx files showed an error at the source step.
