How to reduce size of my pbix file (caused by appending historical table to main/active table)?

Hello,

To get my current (production) and historical data into the same tables, for reporting, I have appended the historical tables to their respective current tables that I report off of in the model. That being said, I have been leaving the historical tables as "Enable Load" and "Include in Report Refresh" because I'm not sure if the data will continue to populate in those tables, and thus the current tables, if I uncheck them. Leaving these tables checked brings them into my model and drastically increases the size of the pbix file and hampers performance. Is there anything I can do to reduce the size of the file related to these historical tables I'm using to feed the current tables?

enable refresh but not load. That way it will check for fresh data but not load it to the model.
