I need to create a sql view so my application can read the DAX (tabular) dataset as it is unable to query SSAS directly.
Is there a way I can set up a SQL View with a DAX query? The SSAS instance is on the same server as the DB engine
Hi @rax99
Please let me know if below post helps:
Sorry this doesnt apply as I am not after the sql statements. Im trying to query the DAX server model (SSAS) from SSMS (using SQL). But doesn't appear to be possible.
Hi @rax99
Sorry, you can not as its totally different engine and database type.
Thanks for your reply @Mariusz. In that case, is there any way of dumping the results of a DAX query into a SQL table? Surely it should be possible as its just rows and columns?
Hi @rax99
You can use DAX studio to get a CSV extract and later upload it to SQL tbl.
Sure, the issue here is automating this process will become a right pain.
Is there not a way of using linked servers to get the db engine to talk to SSAS Tabular?
