How to make remove clock time from Timestamp Slicer

I have Timestamp in format of 13/12/2016 09:00:00. Timestamp in this format is needed for charts.

When I create list slicer with timestamp I get list in 13/12/2016 09:00:00 format.

What needs to be done so that list slicer is format in 13/12/2016 without clock time.

Hi @Anonymous,

Create a new column using the following formula, then change the data type of the new column to Date under Modeling ribbon and create a slicer using the new column. There is an example for your reference.

DateValue = DATE(YEAR(Table3[Timestamp]),MONTH(Table3[Timestamp]),DAY(Table3[Timestamp]))

Hi @Anonymous,

You can create a new column using the following formula, then change the data type of the new column to Date under Modeling ribbon and create a slicer using the new column. There is an example for your reference.

DateColumn = TableName[Timestampcolumn]

Thanks. I got slicer with format "13/12/2016". However this method just removed clock time this I got like 1000 of "13/12/2016" in slicer ist as there are 1000 rows on that day. How to make unique date slicer so that each date apper only once in the slicer list?

Hi @Anonymous,

You can create a new table using the following similar formula, change the data type of TimeStamp column in this new table to Date, then create a relationship between your table and the new table using  TimeStamp column. In this way, drag TimeStamp column of your new table to slicer.

Table = DISTINCT(testsclier[DateKey])

I create new table "DimDate = DISTINCT(myTable[Timestamp])"

I created relationship between DimDate and myTable with Many To One + Both.

I added slicer based on DimDate table and changed datatype as Date.

I still see multiple dates from same date thus date values are not distinct.

Hi @Anonymous,

Please help to post sample data of your TimeStamp column with which I can test in my Desktop.

So I would need slicer, which have 3 values, "15/12/2016, 14/12/2016, 13/12/2016". Now I would see 6 values.

OutTable

Date slicer looks visually good, but behaves very strange way. When selecting all Dates it shows correctly total number of rows and do the graphs very fine.

However when selecting certain date, it should only fraction of rows which means that most of data is filtered out. It behaves like date slicer slices with date with certain clock time. It should show all data from selected date.
