How to have two columns, one for the first year selected and the second for the previous year?

Hi, I currently have two columns for our income that shows This Year and Last Year next to eachother. For example, 2020 and 2019. However, we have data from 2016. I was wondering if its possible to select a year, for example 2018, and the table updates to show one column for 2018 and then the other one to show 2017 so I can compare them. 

 

The only way I can think at the moment is creating seperate bookmarks for each selection and create a new table each time, but surely there's a better way to achieve this?

@GeorgeG , you can use date table and time intelligence

 

if you are using year on axis or row/column
sales =SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]) //act as this year
Year behind Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Year))

//Year till date , depend on calendar selection 
YTD QTY = TOTALYTD(Sum('order'[Qty]),'Date'[Date])

To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :

Thank you @amitchandak, however whenever I try to create any of the columns it returns ' There's not enough memory to complete this operaration.' Any thoughts on this?

If you have data like

id  value1(2018)  value2(2019)

a       3                      4

b       4                      5

Then you need to select these columns(value1~valuen) and unpivot these columns in Transform data.

after this, we can create measures to fulfill your requirements.

Please correct me if my understanding is correct so that i can move to the next step.
