How to handle SharePoint lookup and choice columns in Power BI?

Hello all

I have a SharePoint list with few lookup and choice type columns. When Power BI reads data from this SharePoint list, these columns show up as [List] and [Record] in Power BI's data model.

Is there any guidance on how to handle these lookup columns? Can someone point me  to any blogs or documentation on how to load and handle various SharePoint column data types in Power BI?

Thanks a lot in advance.

then click on your file if you have more than one in your report.

Now you should see arrows and [Record] in yellow.

Hi gpiero, I am facing an issue related to the same but a bit different.

I created lookup column "Name" in SharePoint. From that lookup column "Name", I created one more lookup column "region". So now if I enter data to name automatically region data is coming.

For example: if I enter "Lakshmi" as name automatically in region "country " name is coming. Okay.

But in power bi I am able to name column & region column is not showing .I am getting name column but region column is not coming. How can i get this region from sharepoint to power bi. can you please help me .

Open your data in Edit Query.

To the right of the column will appear the arrows  in the red circle.

Click on it.

Click OK

Now the column contains the value selected in the input step performed on the Sharepoint custom list.

Hi @gpiero Thank you for reply.

I don't see arrows in my column.

Also I see square brackets around List and Record.

I think it is because SharePoint maintains look up columns as Item_Value;#Item_Id

@KirBel,

pheraps I am wrong.

But the picture you put in your post show everything in grey.

It means this is the data visualization .

Are you sure you opened in Edit Query mode?
