How to filter the filter

I am creating my financial dashboard and try to add a filter on the side where the user will be able to filter the cost by, say, staff costs, overhead, etc. These headings are part of the tagging that we do. So, the Staff and Overhead is part of a long list where Income, as well as Balance Sheet items, are tagged under the same category. So, I want to filter my filter where the list available is only for the Expenses. Currently, it doesnt seem possible as everytime I create a filter, it shows the full list. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Jawed,

Could you please mark the proper answer as solution or share the solution if it's convenient for you? That will be a big help to the others.

Hi @v-jiascu-msft. Unfortunately, there is no solution. You can't filter the filter as it stands.

Hi @Jawed,

If it's possible for you to add many calculated columns, you can use these columns in slicers. The options could be blank and what you want.

SlicerExpense =
IF ( 'table1'[column] = "Expense", 'table1'[column], BLANK () )

Best Regards!

Hi @Jawed,

Why don't you add a slicer to your dashboard and the filter that slicer and user can use the slicer.

Hi @Jawed

It is ineed not possible to filter your filter like you mentioned. But there is a workaround.

If you put your values in a filter: for instance like i did:

Nacalculatie is the filter field. Then put your nacalculatie field also in page level filter (see image), then choose what you want tos ee filtered on the page, and it automatically changes the values in your filter. But remember, it will change everything on the whole page, not only the filter.
