How to display a custom legend on top of a map visual

Hello,

I have a map with a custom colored legend on top of it (and also tooltips for the map).

The colored legend is implemented with a table visual.

My problem is when the user click on the map visual, the legend is hidden by the map visual.

Is there a way to force the legend to stay displayed on top of map visual even if it is selected ? Or to re-display the legend as soon as the user release the mouse button ? Or other suggestion ... ?

Note: I activate the zoom buttons so in fact I don't really need the user to be able to click/select the map visual ...

Thx

Well, I found the solution here.

Its a little bit weird but i works ...

All that is needed is to group the map visual “with itself”:

  • Insert a shape
  • Display the selection pane and place this shape just in front of the map
  • In the selection pane, select both (the map and the shape) and group them together
  • Then remove the shape from this group, leaving the map alone in the group

Miraculously, when you click on the map, the legend (or what else displayed on top of it) is no longer hidden... !!!

Enjoy and many thanks to Rolling Average for this tip.

Why do users need to click on the map? Does the click give them more information?

If they want to zoom in and moves the map. In that case, the legend disappears.

Users can zoom in without click, they only need to hoover over the map.

If you want to create a enlarged map with legend table next to the visual. You can create a bookmark and link the bookmark to a textbox/button.
