Hi,
I expect this has been asked before but I couldn't find the answer. Well, I found that it cannot be done when using 'Import' mode, the method I'm using, but I'll be suprised if this is the case.
The background.
Working with a badly created SQL db, there it has data that will have numeric calculations done on them. However, this column are defined as text columns. Of course to do these numeric calculations I must assign the column as whole number. Can't do this as an entry for that column has 'packet-1234' (clearly test data). For this reason I cannot covert the column to be a whole number.
I went into Advanced Editor an coverted the column there. The text entry then became an error which I was able to remove using the remove error option. Now the Advanced Editor doesn't have this row but the Desktop area still done. I've tried to refresh the Desktop but I get an error on all table (see further below for the error message).
My question, how can I remove all data from all tables in Power BI Desktop and then reload from the tables in Advanced Editor?
Thanks in advance.
Solved! Go to Solution.
So when I was attempting to make a change to the data in the Advanced Editor and it successfully updated in the Advanced Editor I was expecting the change to be reflected in the Desktop area but it wasn't. I even tried refreshing data in the Desktop area. Still no joy.
I was receiving the error message in the below link which was preventing data change appearing in the Desktop. Having resolved the error the refreshing in the Desktop area it did update and reflect the data that was present in the Advanced Editor. I hadn't seen the error message before so wasn't aware it was this that was affecting the refresh.
Did you try 'Refresh All' option in Query Editor?
