How to convert sale field to measure field ?

Hi All

Below expression working fine  , i need to replace field = sale to field =sales :-

Sales YTD =

var _max = today()

return

calculate(TOTALYTD(('SALES'[sale]),'Date'[Date]),filter('Date','Date'[Date]<=_max))

When i replace aboe sale with sales , i get error msg.

Pls notice that below image , field = sales is summaration field not measure field. May i know how to convert to measure field ?

Wrap a SUM() function around 'SALES'[sales]
