How to apply query change faster in PowerBI desktop?

First time asking a question here so apologies if I am posting in the wrong forum.

I am trying to unpivot 2 columns resulting in a table that has ~250M rows. When I save and apply changes, it looks like it if going to take ~6-8 hours for the changes to apply. Is there a way to make it go faster?

My data is stored in Azure. Can I just save and publish my desktop file without applying changes and see if the changes will be applied once online or during refresh?

@PowerBI_Work,

You may try Use DirectQuery in Power BI Desktop.
