How to anonymise users in Power Query Editor

Hi all,

We are working on a model that shows the Power BI activity across our organisation.

We would like to anonymise the user ids, so instead of showing that user A viewed that report, we want to show that there was 1 user who viewed it.

We have found a way to do this in DAX, but the challenge is that if the model is accessed via DirectQuery (not only Live) connection, then the anonymisation fails.

Do you know a way to anonymise users by using M language in Power Query Editor?

Many thanks for your answers in advance!

Hi @amitchandak,
Thanks a lot for your input.
I had to do the transformation in Power Query Editor, so I used the approach in the below article:

Appreciate your input,
