Hi,
1] In power BI desktop, I am trying to add data sets which are huge.
Since the data volume is high, I just want to add the data set with limited rows instead of downloading entire table data.
2] And when I create the reports, it should send the query to database server and then it should create visualization based on r response data? Can you please suggest on both items
Thanks,

Power bi support change parameter during data achieving. For example, you can build a list of query parameter in query editor and use specific parameter in your sql statement. However, power bi doesn't have build-in sql statement or other feature to filter the data source.
About query parameter, you can refer to doc below:

For the first question, you can SQL statement to achieve specific rows which you want.
For the second question, you can use direct query mode.

Hi,
For the first question, isn't there a parameter to set the number of row to be fetched instead of I adding a query?
Thanks
