How to Create Organization Chart in Power BI Desktop

Hi All,

I am looking for a solution to create organizational chart using Power BI Desktop. Is it possible ?

Currently, we create this Using Visio which is very time consuming as the report needs to be updated everymonth. So I was looking for a way to create this in Power BI. We have about 1300 resources with several hierchy.

I have added the addon called Akvelon for hierchy in the desktop version but not sure how to go about it.

Appreciate if anyone cane share any process about how to create Organization Chart in Power BI

Thanks in advance

We created an org chart using the Power BI standard Matrix visual for division within the State of Utah.  The data resides in a RDBMS system, essentially a single table with a parent-child relationship.  Using a SQL technique known as a "recursive query", we were able to create what you see here:

e-mail me privately schiang@utah.gov if you need more details.

HI @v-juanli-msft

Thanks for your reply. The demo doesnt provide the details on preparing the source data.

Would you be able to share the process a bit more in detail, this will be very helpful as I am trying to create the org chart for about 1400 employees and didn't find any compolete process any where.

My data set has Emplyees and their employee IDs and the name of their managers. Just wondering how to go about setting up the source data. It will be very time consuming to create Parent and child IDs manually

Thanks, appreciate any inputs
