How to Calculate Previous Year YTD

Hi All,

I have monthly sales from Jan 2021 untill Aug 2022 for 5 stores, and I'm trying create a chart that display current year sales & previous year sales for each store.

I created two measure as below and added these two along with Store dimension.

Sales_CurrentYear = TOTALYTD(sum(Table.Sales),Table.[Invoice_date])
Sales_PreviousYear = CALCULATE(Sum(Sales_CurrentYear ), SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR(Table.[Invoice_date])

But, Sales_PreviousYear measure is retruning sales for entire 2021 instead of 2021 sales between Jan -Aug as my Sales_CurrentYear sales measure only considers data untill Aug for 2022.

So, is there any way I can retrict Previous year sales column to display sales untill YTD instead of complete year.

Thanks in advance,
Radha Pingali

Hi @rapingali ,

Your Sales_PreviousYear is including the full year because (I am assuming), there's a full year's worth of data last year. If you want your last year's YTD sale instead, you can follow this structure below:

TOTLAYTD LY =
CALCULATE ( [Sales_CurrentYear], SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR ( Table.[Invoice_date] ) )
