How can I load data from a Power BI app to a Power BI dashboard?

Hello

I want to get data from a Power BI app and use it in another Power BI dashboard.

How can I do that?

Thanks!

Hi @UsePowerBI ,

When connect to Power BI dataset, you are using Live Connection. And when using Live Connection, you can't use other connect mode like Import or Direct Query to connect other data source.

In your scenario, you are using Import or DQ to connect other source, so you can't connect to Power BI dataset with Live Connection at the same time.

Currently you can't use other connect mode when connecting to Power BI dataset. As a workaround you may use Down Load Pbix feature in Power BI Service, so that you can connect to other data source in the downloaded dataset.

Jay

Hi @UsePowerBI ,

What is the error detail? Is it something like:

"The connect live option for this file is disabled because it already contains data from another data source. You cannot explore live data and connect to another typ...."

If so, the problem is that you could not use Import and Live Connection in one report at the same time.

If not, please show more details.

Best Regards,

Jay

@v-jayw-msft  yes, that is the error

How do I make all connections non-live and how do I connect to the PowerBI dataset with a non-live connection? I cannot find the option to choose.

Thanks

You can use data from published Power Bi datasets (needs to be shared with you)

Thanks but I get the error of "The connect live option for this file is disabled...".

I click to enable Power BI Service Live Connection but it is not available in the Options:

Any idea?
