How Row Level Security works in Power BI APPS

Hi,

I am new to Power BI. I have one requirement to publish the workspace to Apps.

I have created one workspace called 'Sage Workspace'. I have below 3 reports in that.

1) Report1

2) Report2

3) Report3

I have defined row level security in all the above 3 reports. There is one user 'User1'. I have not defined any row level security for 'User1' in any of the above report.

I published the 'Sage Workspace' to App. While publishing the App, I have added 'User1' as a member in that app. He has 'View Only' access. He doesn't have edit access.

Ideally, 'User1' should see all the reports when he open the App, but he should not see any content in abovce all report. Is that right? But he is able to see all reports contents.

Can anyone please let me know if I am missing anything?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Poonam

hi, @Anonymous

You have a misunderstanding about Row Level Security function in power bi.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-rls

Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI Desktop restricts data access for given users. Filters restrict data at the row level.

Since you had added 'User1' as a member in that app. He has 'View Only' access. He doesn't have edit access. So 'User1' can see

and open the report in this APP.  and you could add a RLS for 'User1' to let him don't see any data for the report.

here are some blog for you refer to:

Hi @v-lili6-msft,

Thanks for your response.

Actually I mentioned incorrectly. I have definded the raw level security using same way which you mentioned above.

It got worked when user deleted browsing history from Internet exporer.

Poonam
