Highlighting parts of a line graph

Hello all

I'm almost certain this is impossible within Power BI, but I thought I'd ask for help just in case.

I am going to try and produce a line graph which displays a value (sales for example) over time, simple enough.

I would like to highlight a part of this graph dependent on the selection of various other pieces of data.

For example, the data table would look something like this:

Location	Staff Member Assigned	Start Date	End Date
A	Joe Bloggs	January 19	March 19
B	An Other	February 19	April 19
C	Toby Lerone	May 19	June 19

The user would use a filter to select a location, which would display staff member, start date and end date in simple card visualisations.

What I would love for is a line graph below, which for example shows sales by month, to highlight the part of line which pertains to the table above. For example, if Location A is selected, then the line on the graph (or the background) changes to a different colour between January and March, whilst other values remain a standard colour. I would also be pleased if the background colours could be changed rather than the line colours themselves.

I guess I'm asking a bit much here, but I'd love to see if this is possible in BI, and if so, how I would go about approaching it.

I can't upload any files, as this is just in the ideas stage at the moment.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure I’m understanding your requirement. In your example (Sales) if you slice/filter by a subset (location for example) the sales values will be different from the total, wouldn’t they? In that case the line plotted would by definition be different from the total, and would not therefore trace the same. You can of course have two measures on the line chart for comparison purposes: one displaying the total and the other to display the filtered values...

I did come across a post by Matt Allington showing a tecnique (which involves placing two charts one of top of the other) which might be useful though:

Unfortunately, other visual can't interact line chart with highlight mode.
You can click on legend labels to highlight selected label but it is impossible to use other visual to achieve highlight interaction.
